Fireboy The True King Of Modern Afrobeats

Fireboy: The Artist, The Art, The Feats.

Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Adefolahan, is regarded by music enthusiasts in Africa as a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Aside from Fireboy, Burna Boy is another artiste music critics give this tag as a generational talent in Nigeria. Without a single iota of doubt, the tag and acclamation are backed by the elite quality of his work. His creative and superb songwriting skills further justify it. His nascent track record of several hit songs consolidates it. And pushing him completely over the line, and onto that pedestal is his debut album, “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps.” Released in November 2019, the project transformed the buzzing young artist into a revered master and king of the arts. Dominating charts across the continent and beyond, LTG has received calls to be considered a classic.

The journey didn't just start overnight. In 2018, Fireboy DML was scribbling songs and recording mid-quality versions of his songs at a friend’s home studio. One of the videos that went viral lately, showed him and his friends freestyling to one of Ed Sheeran's hit songs. Two years later, he made a song that featured Ed Sheeran, eventually becoming one of the biggest Afrobeat exports in Africa. Months after its remix, ‘Peru’ has over 31 million views on Youtube, topped Apple Music charts in the UK, and gathered 35 million Spotify streams.
Sometimes in 2018, he performed at the O2 Arena, and since then he has been heralded as an integral part of a new school of generation artists, a school which includes acts like Omah Lay, Rema, Joeboy, and several other young artists thriving in their own right.

While he was still cementing his place as one of the new faces of an evolving music scene. The success of LTG has given him leverage to prove himself even more. With positive critical reception always comes the pressure to do more and more. He didn't slack. He released his sophomore album "Apollo". But before the album was released, three singles were already on heavy radio rotation, grooming fans anticipation of the kind of fire he's igniting on the new album. Apollo dropped and it also garnered acceptance that distinguished Fireboy among his peers. On both projects, the singer’s probing lyrics, enduring melodies and instant traction made him a songwriting poster child.
Recall that after "Peru" dropped, Fireboy has been going places and his career has taken a meteoric rise with this international collaboration.

Last year December, It was announced that Fireboy DML hit song "Scatter" will be one of the soundtracks for the upcoming FIFA 21. Unarguably, Fireboy is the first Artist from a West African country to achieve such a feat. The achievement remains incomplete without the history he made in the 14th edition of Headies. He won the award for the best R&B album with Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps, beating Sarz and Wurld, Praiz, Chike, Tiwa Savage. The same night, he beat industry heavyweights like Davido, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, and Adekunle Gold to clinch the Best POP Album with his project titled Apollo. He got the best R&B single award with his song, Tattoo. Once again, he proudly rose that night to receive the nod for The Headies revelation awards. He, however, crowned the night by winning the Album of The Year award.
In 2020, News of the LTG being considered for a Grammy nomination was shared by Fireboy DML in a post on his official Facebook page. "My Debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps Has been considered for the Grammy World Best Album category." Sometimes in June this year, The singer-songwriter also scored himself a nomination for “Best International Act.”
